Taking it Captive

29 Nov

He has given us His unmeasurable grace. The all knowing, all seeing God of the universe has pardoned us, set us free.

Do we live like He has? Or do we hole up in our corners nursing our fears and failures until we forget what He’s accomplished.

We begin to listen to the lies of our enemy:  You always mess this up.  Surely you aren’t asking for forgiveness for that sin again? or Those are your thoughts?  And you profess Jesus? He can’t use you. You’ll never make it. Don’t you remember …?

Does the rhetoric sound familiar?

But His Word says:

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

Sometimes we let things slide,  don’t we?  We think that because it’s just a thought, it’s really not too important but then we start to believe the lie…

Thought precedes action, doesn’t it? And then sin begins to compound because we don’t repent and make use of the grace available to us…unmeasurable grace and we turn aside because we think we have no need.

Can I challenge you this week to take your thoughts captive?

Saturate your mind with the truth of His word.  Read about Him. Worship Him.  Let the words you say bring glory to Him.  Remember what He has done and the love that was poured out for you.

Then come back and share in the comments or on your own blog.  I would love to know how Jesus is teaching you through His word.
