What’s in the Bible?

5 Aug

As a homeschooling family, we are always looking for ways to make our bible time fun and engaging.  The What’s in the Bible? DVD series delivers on both accounts.  Tyndale House Publishers sent me an advance copy of the DVDs to review and use in conjunction with our school material.  I have to be honest and say that I have been keeping a close eye on this product ever since I heard that it was in the works.  My son has long been enamored with the online Jelly Telly videos (also produced by Phil Vischer) where many of the characters originated.

Phil Vischer, the mind behind the beloved Veggie Tales series, has really made something special here, with the What’s in the Bible? DVDs.  Through the course of the series every book of the bible will be studied.  Also, the episodes tackle questions like:  What is the Pentateuch? and What does testament mean and why do we have two?

With characters like the Sunday School Lady and her magic flannel board, The Bentley Brothers, and Buck Denver your kids will be completely entertained while still receiving biblical truth.  It’s a win-win to me.  One other plus is that Phil Vischer himself is in the videos teaching and engaging with the puppets.  His voice is easily recognizable in our home.  (We kept expecting Bob the Tomato to pop on the screen.)

We can’t wait for the next DVD to be released.  My kids are excited about using them for school and they truly enjoy watching the different episodes.  Wandering in the Desert is the most recent addition and you can pick it up at any Christian bookstore or online.

**  I was provided this DVD series by Tyndale House.  I was not compensated for this review.  I just enjoy reading/watching great material with my kiddos and giving my opinion.**
